The 6 P’s for Health

Have you heard this before?

“Proper planning prevents piss poor performance.”

It’s not glamorous. In fact, it’s pretty crass (but this saying makes me laugh!) And, it’s true… especially when it comes to your health.

Because here’s the thing:

When life gets busy, stressed, or overwhelming (and when isn’t it?), we don’t rise to our best intentions…we fall to our default habits.

This is definitely something that I talk about with clients: if your health habits aren’t planned…they usually become drive-thru habits. (Talking from experience here.)

Healthy food, a good night’s sleep, and movement don’t magically happen. They have to be decided in advance. And, having better health helps our stress and happiness. We feel better and stronger. We’re not reaching for chips out of needing to just feel better. Having regular meals helps our bodies feel safe, so we can think clearly and handle more.

Starting batch cooking (just a few simple, ready-made salads) made life easier!

(Ever notice that when you’re hungry, angry, lonely or tired you don’t have the same resilience? The 6 P’s help with this!)

You don’t need a perfect plan. You just need a simple one.

So for example, decide:

  • When you’re going to move your body (I gently but strongly recommend the morning

  • What your meals generally look like, and when you’ll have time to shop, prep, etc.

  • How you’ll stay hydrated

  • What time you’ll start winding down to get ready for bed

Maybe it’s planning on Sundays:

  • A couple of scheduled workout classes

  • A couple of simple meals planned

  • Batch cooking Sunday afternoon

  • Filling a huge water bottle at night that is meant for the next day.

  • A bedtime that you’ll stick to

Without that, our life gets pulled in many directions, and the brain goes into survival mode.
And survival mode orders DoorDash.

I care about this so deeply because I’ve seen what happens when we don’t plan…people I love getting sick and losing years they didn’t have to lose because of small daily choices that added up over time.

This isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being intentional.

Your future self, the one who wants energy, mobility, clear thinking, and joy as you age… is quietly asking you to start now.

Not someday.
Not next month.
Now.

And if this feels hard or overwhelming, you don’t have to figure it out alone. I offer coaching and simple, realistic practical support to help you build a plan that fits your real life, not some Pinterest version of it.

If you’d like help creating a steady, nourishing, and healthy lifestyle that you can actually maintain, I’d love to help!

This Week: Remember the 6 P’s and properly plan for good food, hydration, sleep, and movement. Keep repeating!!

If doing this with a friend would make it easier, please forward this!
