Plan Your Week; What Matters

Ever notice how the most important things—exercise, rest, time with loved ones, fun—often get pushed aside for urgent tasks? Stuff always seems to pop up!

Plus, our world (news, entertainment, all socials, etc.) are designed to capture your attention and keep it. Think of how many times you just checked in on socials, but then got sucked in and kept scrolling - and ended up losing sense of how much time had passed. (I know, me too.)

So, let’s fight back, get intentional, and take control. Plan for what matters, so that what is important to you, happens!

By making the important happen, I decrease stress and anxiety. I feel that I am living in alignment which feels GOOD!

This is how we take our power back.

Each Sunday, (as someone who is always trying to reduce her stress and anxiety) I look at the week ahead and make plans.

And, if I miss a Sunday, I don’t stress, I just start again and not beat myself up.

Each Sunday, take 10 minutes and consider what works for you:

  • Get on paper your stressors. Are there things that you can let go of, or put on a longer to-do list so that you can focus on what’s important this week?

  • Schedule your workouts or a couple of short walks. If it’s in your calendar, you’re more likely do it!

  • Block out time for deep work. Turn off notifications and focus.

  • Plan time with loved ones. Connection is just as important as productivity. Who haven’t you seen lately? Who is important to you? Who do you miss?

  • Plan a few meals. Winging it leads to decision fatigue, over-snacking, and take-out. Make a plan, even consider prepping for those meals today.

  • Schedule downtime. You don’t need to earn rest—it’s essential. Get on your calendar even 10 mins. of time to DO NOTHING. No technology so that you rest your body and mind. Yeah, that means taking a break from scrolling. If doing nothing feels uncomfortable, it’s a sign that you need to do THAT more. Sorry, not sorry.

  • Make progress happen. Is there a side hustle, an on-going project or a craft that really means something to you? (When I was teaching full-time, I felt a sense of progress (and happiness!) by working on my side hustle of coaching just a little bit each week. And now, it’s grown into a full-time career that I LOVE.) Plan for 15 mins devoted to something that means something to you. You’ll feel a sense of happiness from the progress of moving forward, even if it’s just a little bit.

A well-planned week that feels good and has less stress isn’t about cramming in more—it’s about making sure what truly matters gets the time it deserves.

Help diminish stress and create more joy!
